Madgex has raised £430 for Martlets Hospice at its annual barbecue – proving that eating too many burnt burgers is not always a bad thing…
Madgexians gathered at Brighton Sailing Club, where they ate, drank and made merry while raising vital funds for Martlets with a raffle.
A number of local businesses generously offered some great prizes, including two tickets to see Russell Howard at Brighton Dome, one night in a beautiful B&B in Devon, a luxury summer hamper from Tordoffs and two tickets for the Krater Comedy Club.
We couldn’t run this event without their help, so a big thanks goes to:
· Brighton Dome
· The Treatment Room
· Bison Beer
· Perfect Pamper
· Krater Comedy Club
· Guns Florists
· Montezuma’s Chocolate
· Stoodleigh Court Coach House B&B
This is the 10th year Madgex has held a barbecue and raffle, which is one of many initiatives to create a positive working environment for its employees, while supporting local charities.
Hanna Smith, HR director at Madgex, said: “Every year we’re proud to raise money for a very worthy cause, the Martlets Hospice. It’s a charity close to our hearts, with many of us having first hand experience of the wonderful work they do. We’re so lucky that local businesses have been so generous in donating prizes so that we can raise money through our annual raffle.”
The Martlets care for over 400 patients a year. It costs a staggering £5.3 million to run and they receive less than a quarter of that funding from the Government, so the charity heavily relies on goodwill and donations.
Emma Knight, Head of Corporate and Major Donor Giving at Martlets Hospice said: “The staff at Madgex continue to support the work of Martlets! Once again they have shown their commitment to the city’s hospice by raising a fantastic £430 at their annual summer BBQ. The support of the community is vital to the continuation of the free, life-changing hospice care Martlets provides for people with a terminal illness in and around Brighton & Hove. The support of Madgex is of enormous value and on behalf of everyone at Martlets, and the patients and families who will benefit from your generosity, thank you.”
