Figures from specialist recruitment job board Brand Republic Jobs show big gains in mobile adoption, as those in the jobs market seek ever more to search and apply to media, advertising and marketing jobs whilst on the move.
In September 2011 alone, mobile traffic to the Brand Republic jobs site (http://jobs.brandrepublic.com) saw a huge increase of 33% over the numbers experienced in January 2011, with no sign of this trend easing. Much of the growth is in line with Smart Phone adoption in the UK, in addition to the launch of Brand Republic Jobs’ iPhone App in the spring of 2011. The new App, which is free to download from iTunes, allows job seekers to search and apply for jobs wherever they are, mirroring much of the functionality of the main desktop site. Users can create ‘push’ notifications to receive relevant job alerts as soon as they go online, offering them a significant competitive advantage over their peers.
According to Ofcom over a quarter of all adults now own Smart Phones, furthermore in November 2011 Google reported that over 17% of people sampled use a smart phone to find their next job. In the light of this and the continuing trend in this direction, Brand Republic Jobs felt the need to adopt technology such as iPhone Apps to maintain its wide job market reach. The increase in mobile traffic in the last year goes some way towards proving the importance of this type of technology in the job seeking process.
Nick Wells, Marketing Manager for Brand Republic Jobs, comments: “We appreciate how competitive the recruitment market place is becoming, with job seekers demanding new services to be able to fit job seeking into their busy daily lives. iPhone access allows job seekers to keep up with their job search whilst on the move, finding (and applying) jobs quickly and easily.”
