BrandRepublic Jobs Asia joins our portfolio
The latest site to launch on our Madgex Job Board Software platform is BrandRepublic Jobs Asia; a niche site for job seeking professionals in the marketing, media and PR sectors. Our client, Haymarket Media, are aiming for the site to replicate the success of its sister site in the UK and become the leading online marketplace for marketing and communications roles across Asia.
There was great enthusiasm for BrandRepublic Jobs UK, which receives nearly 80,000 unique users per month, so BrandRepublic Jobs Asia has been built based on the original but with additional new functionality for both users and recruiters, to make it even better. The launch of this site also aids us in our quest for international success.
Etienne Maccario, Online Publisher of BrandRepublic Jobs Asia said: “We considered several software development companies as partners and Madgex demonstrated capability and experience in building jobsites that gave us tremendous confidence in them as long term partners. Our experience to date has more than lived up to the sales pitch.”

We launch pan-European job board
We’re proud to announce that we have re-launched Exposure Jobs, the pan-European job website originally launched in 2003, on our award winning software. The enhanced site is designed to match the needs of employers seeking cost effective and responsive recruitment, as well as applicants searching for new roles across Europe.
Migration across Europe is part of a global trend, driven by cheaper travel and the search for a better lifestyle. To support applicants looking to relocate abroad, Exposure Jobs provides an advice centre with invaluable information about working and living in Europe along with career management advice.
Jon Branston, managing director of Exposure Jobs, enjoyed working with us and said: “Madgex’s consultative approach and expertise within user experience methodologies gives our advertisers a competitive edge in the search for pan-European talent.”
It’s a significant launch for Madgex as we move into the European and global markets. Exposure Jobs is a great example of a regionally targeted job board that can compete with the larger players through a focus on candidate conversion and recruiter engagement.

CMPi throws us a six
We’ve been chosen to power six job boards for CMPi, a leading international business-to-business company that delivers media solutions to over 20 industry sectors.
CMPi has chosen to move five of its established job boards ( www.building4jobs.com, www.bd4jobs.com, www.propertyweek4jobs.com, www.bsj4jobs.co.uk, www.shp4jobs.co.uk ) to the Madgex Job Board platform and a new security job board will also be launched as part of the rollout. The two latest launches (www.bd4jobs.com and www.shp4jobs.co.uk) went live on 1st May following the successful launch of www.building4jobs.com in April. The two remaining sites will go live in June and July.
There is currently a skills shortage in the building and engineering industry due to insufficient numbers of UK graduates coming into the market. The job sites that we’re building for CMPi will ensure that industry employers have the best opportunity to find and attract the skilled workers that they need.
Richard Myles, Recruitment Sales Director for CMPi, said: “We feel that Madgex will develop clear, strong job sites for us that focus highly on usability for recruiters and job seekers alike. Our aim is to offer our clients the best solution to reach the available candidates in our markets and to ensure our job seekers benefit from the easiest methods of finding their next job. Having looked into the options, Madgex offered the most cost effective solution to meet this aim.”

Madgex Hackday 3
On the 1st and 2nd June, the Madgex offices were buzzing with creativity as our third annual Hack Day took place.
The purpose of Hack Day is for teams and individuals to ‘innovate’ together. Half the company take part on the first
day and the rest on the second day. The scope is wide as projects don’t have to be technical, they can be anything
that improves processes, provides information to people or is simply a great idea. It is however, a competitive
event and often projects are kept secret until they are presented to a panel of judges at the end of the second day.
This year the overall winning team were the creators of ‘Mapgex’, a team of six. Mapgex is an online locator facility enabling anyone at Madgex to locate where colleagues usually sit, get their contact details and see a photo of them but also to find free desks (to hot-desk) and free meeting rooms. As Madgex expands, teams will be spread over four floors and Mapgex will help new starters in addition to current staff. The winner of the fun/interest category was one of our developers that experimented with javascript animation for his own learning experience. He made an amusing space invaders type of game to demonstrate his new skills.
Every year the Madgex Hack Day is a really enjoyable event that unlocks creativity and gets people of varying skills working together. It is also hard for the judges as so many great ideas are generated over the two days.

Guardian jobs wins Best Job Board 2008
We’re proud to announce that the job board we developed and customised for the Guardian has won Recruiter Magazine’s Best Job Board Award 2008. A panel of industry experts assessed entries according to quality of service, innovation and profitability for the Recruiter’s Awards for Excellence and commended jobs.guardian.co.uk for its ease of navigation and understanding of recruiter and candidate needs.
Last year, in conjunction with the Guardian, we conducted extensive research into the needs of both job seekers and recruiters, which informed the design and functionality of the award winning job site. As a result, from September 2006 – September 2007 the site has seen a 40 per cent increase in unique users to 1 million, increased response for advertisers and a 50 per cent increase in applications.
The prestigious Recruiter Magazine award comes hot on the heels of the Guardian Job Board winning the Technical Innovation Award from OnRec and we are proud that our work with the Guardian has achieved so much.

Madgex opinion in Job Search Engines Article
OnRec asked us for our opinion on job search engines and what should be expected of them. Simon said an effective and successful search engine should be: “One that can interpret varying job titles intelligently, providing users with the most suitable results possible e.g. listing both Business Development Manager and New Business Sales Manager roles under the search term 'Sales Manager'. Good data-management is key, so that expired jobs are not appearing and broken links are corrected or removed. The most important factors are to have strong usability and to be content-heavy to create stickiness around the site and so that recruiters receive a good level of quality applications.”
When asked what the future holds, Simon cautioned: “As the market contracts into niche job boards, job search engines will need to be at the top of their game to become a key player. They need to attract a high level of jobseekers across many industries and geographical locations, covering as many career levels within these industries as possible. If they don't, the jobseeker will simply rely on a niche job board to present them with their ideal roles.”
